The FPC issued the following statement after last night's meeting with Business secretary Vince Cable:

"The FPC has had a constructive and positive session with Vince Cable, in which members had the opportunity to comment on and seek to influence in a progressive direction a wide range of issues arising from the Browne report. The Committee felt a degree of reassurance about the direction of travel and appreciated the opportunity to engage in discussion with Vince."
